ODF: Genie is uncommonly strong for a girl her size. In fact she is uncommonly strong and tough for a man twice her size!
Back story: Genevieve was born sickly and never really thrived. Her parents were distantly connected to the Kaiser but their house had all but fallen to the wayside. With no means of really supporting themselves they chose to emigrate to America. Though it broke their hearts they were forced to leave their daughter behind with her Paternal "Uncle" (actually significantly more complicated) Adolf von Schwarzmann because they knew that her weak constitution would not survive the deprivations inherent in starting over in a new land.
Hilda (Genie's Mother) was especially concerned as she did not trust Adolf or his strange "Science!".
For years Genie waited for the sparse correspondence that would trickle in from time to time but found the details they provided to be less than satisfactory. She wrote them many letters but judging by their letters they only received a very small number of them. Adolf assured her this was to be expected as they were in a savage and unforgiving land.
Meanwhile Adolf placed Genie on a regimen of diet and exercise, including his "Magna Vitae". At last, under her Uncle's supervision Genie began to thrive. She was stricken when her hair, the same color as her mothers, fell out and then grew back in inky black. Adolf taught her as one would teach a boy and she ravenously consumed all she could learn.
Four years later, when Genie was turning twelve the letters from her parents simply stopped. She wrote them over and over but no response ever came. After over a year of this her Uncle told her that, though it pained him deeply, he had reason to believe that her parents were dead.
Genie was beside herself. She was strong enough to help now! She wouldn't be a burden anymore. Why oh why did this have to happen! Uncle Adolf began the proceedings to adopt her though he had no particular obligation to do so.
